I’m Jenny. I’m returning to writing this blog after an 8-month hiatus.
Life happened. I moved to a lovely house in New Jersey with my fiancé, who just recently became my husband. I got promoted at work, and I’m trying to figure out how to leave work at work and not be “connected” all the time. It’s a challenge. I’m working on creating time to actually do things in my spare time.
But most of the time, I like to cook. I like to eat just a little bit more. I love going to restaurants and trying new foods and wines and cuisines. I’m a Saints fan, I actually like working out, and when I can stay conscious, I’m an avid reader. I’ve almost joined several book clubs.
My mission: make time to write, make time to cook, try, fail, try again, fail some more, and learn something.
In 2011, I wrote another blog called Magic In the Kitchen, which began as a chronicle of my many culinary experiments, and became a place for me to refer back to successful recipes that were thought up on the fly.
There’s a great quote from The World According To Garp that goes,
‘”If you are careful,” Garp wrote, “if you use good ingredients, and you don’t take any shortcuts, then you can usually cook something very good. Sometimes it is the only worthwhile product you can salvage from a day: what you make to eat. With writing, I find, you can have all the right ingredients, give plenty of time and care, and still get nothing. Also true of love. Cooking, therefore, can keep a person who tries hard sane.”‘
